An AI chess coach for every child in the class.

Rooky teaches every child, one move at a time. Built by a FIDE Master.

An excited schoolboy points at a ChessDoer knight lesson on a lab computer: the knight's 8 squares are marked and Rooky cheers. Around it: the AI chess coach card (Rooky explains every move, and helps you improve), a gift worth 40 XP, and the rank card: rank 3, Knight, 8 streak, 240 XP.

How a ChessDoer class works

One period in the computer lab. A full chess course by a FIDE Master, with Rooky, the AI coach, teaching each child on screen.

A complete course, ready on day one

Four levels of lessons, puzzles, quizzes and exams, written and checked by a FIDE Master. Each child picks up where they stopped.

Rooky coaches every move

Rooky shows each idea with an arrow. The child plays the move, and Rooky checks it and gives a hint when they're stuck.

Practise until it sticks

Puzzles, quizzes and games against ten bots, with Rooky reviewing each game. Old topics come back so nothing is forgotten.

For schools

  • Runs on the lab you have. ChessDoer works in the browser. Nothing to install on the computers.
  • Set up in one upload. Upload the class list once and print the PIN sheets. Children sign in with a drawn face and a PIN.
  • Progress for every batch. See who finished which unit, who passed the exam and who needs help.
  • Any teacher can run it. Rooky teaches and checks every step; the teacher keeps the class on task.

“I chose every lesson, puzzle and exam position myself, and checked each one on the board. Rooky does the patient part: it explains, waits, and shows every child the better move.”

Common questions

Can a child really learn chess on a computer?

Yes, because they play every move themselves instead of watching. Rooky checks each move and helps when they're stuck. Quizzes, exams and reviews make it stick.

Does my child need chess experience?

No. Starter begins with the board itself and teaches one piece at a time.

What does the school need?

Computers with a modern browser and an internet connection. Nothing to install.

Is the AI coach a chatbot?

No. Children can't type to Rooky or to anyone else. Rooky works inside lessons and games: it explains moves, gives hints during games and shows mistakes after a game.
